NASRO President Rudy Perez, a first-generation Latino immigrant from Guatemala, left behind a country plagued by crime and a lack of opportunities. Settling in the government projects of Los Angeles, he faced numerous challenges including the prevalence of gangs and drugs.
During his time in school, Rudy encountered difficulties with his education and was diagnosed with learning disabilities. Adding to his struggles, English was his second language that he had to learn.
Despite these obstacles, Rudy Perez has dedicated 23 years of his life to a career in law enforcement. He served in various roles within the Los Angeles School Police Department, starting as a police officer and working his way up to detective, sergeant, lieutenant, and eventually serving as the Adjutant to the Chief.
Rudy's journey as an immigrant and a student with learning disabilities has been marked by resilience and triumph. Today, he holds the esteemed position of Assistant Chief of Police in the Golden Valley Police Department, a first ring suburban city in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
With a background that includes graduating from the prestigious National FBI Academy and being chosen as the class representative during session 280 of the FBINA, along with serving two terms as a regional 9 Director for NASRO, Rudy stands out as an accomplished professional in his field. Not only that, but he has also been entrusted with a significant responsibility as a member of the executive board, starting from the position of second vice president, president and ultimately serving as the past president, which entails an impressive eight-year commitment.
Rudy firmly believes that his accomplishments and triumphs can be largely attributed to his unwavering faith in Christ, the unwavering support of his family, and the guidance he received from numerous mentors throughout his journey.
