The exhibit hall at NASRO's National School Safety Conference in July gave attendees a chance to learn about a multitude of school safety products, according to a report on National Public Radio's All Things Considered. Reporter Meg Anderson's story included interviews with three exhibitors, one SRO and NASRO executive director Mo Canady.
The story highlighted remotely piloted drones, entryway weapon detectors and trauma kits as three examples of "a long list of products schools can buy" to improve safety.
It quotes Canady on the challenges of SRO work: "We're asking them to be the best tactical person their department could offer. We're asking them to be the best informal counselor." Andesron reports that Mo also told her that when a shooting happens, school resource officers need any tools they can get.
