Limit school disruptions from hoax threats: NASRO to Memphis Commercial Appeal

People who falsely report violent emergencies on school campuses (swatting) or who communicate hoax threats of future violence usually intend to disrupt the school day. That's why it's important to take the situation seriously, while also not "giving the person the satisfaction," NASRO executive director Mo Canady told the Memphis Commerical Appeal newspaper.

Canady told the newspaper that schools and law enforcement agencies must take threats seriously, "but we handle them in an appropriate way, and usually, that can involve not disrupting the school day, and not putting students through a lot of unnecessary trauma."
