School Resource Officers must be ready to protect — NASRO to Vermont Public Radio

“Every day when I woke up and put on my duty belt I thought, ‘This could be the day when someone comes into my school and tries to do harm to the students that I care for and that I protect.'”

That’s part of what NASRO director of operations Mac Hardy told Vermont Public Radio for a story about difficulties hiring school resource officers. Hardy also explained that SROs have multiple roles, including mentoring and educating students.
