An August 4, 2015 story in “Education Week” quotes NASRO executive director Mo Canady explaining how a civil lawsuit against a Kentucky school resource officer (SRO) is an example of why SROs need to stay out of school discipline. Canady also tells the publication that NASRO’s SRO training – which the defendant officer had not taken – includes a block devoted to special education. “We want to make sure that officers going into the school have some good information on what to anticipate in the special education world,” Canady said.
