“Thousands of NASRO members, school administrators and other school safety personnel agree that school-to-prison pipelines should not exist. Rather than eliminating school-based police, however, the way to rupture these pipelines or to prevent them is to ensure that all law enforcement officers who are assigned to school campuses are properly selected and properly trained,” writes NASRO regional director D.J. Schoeff, in a letter to the editor of the Indianapolis Star.
The Star published the letter, in which D.J. also explains the role of a school resource officer. Read the letter on the Star website.
