Texas COVID Phase III Makes NASRO Conference Possible

Published Thursday, June 25, 2020 by Mo Canady, NASRO Executive Director

On June 3, Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced the third phase of the State of Texas’ plan to safely open its economy while containing the spread of COVID-19. Phase III of the governor’s plan makes NASRO’s National School Safety Conference possible.

NASRO is moving ahead with preparations for the conference at the Hilton Anatole, Dallas, August 5-10.

The conference theme is “Building Community Trust, One Child at a Time.”

During the conference, on Thursday, Aug. 6, we will host a National Town Hall Meeting that will include two panel discussions; one with SROs and students discussing current issues associated with SRO programs and a second focused on restarting school safely after the COVID-19 closures.

Among the conference’s multiple breakout sessions will be one titled, "Implicit Bias Awareness to Promote SRO Safety and Effectiveness."

The conference will comply with and go beyond all health and safety guidelines established by the State of Texas and Hilton Hotels & Resorts.  We are currently working on a detailed safety and security plan that will be shared with all attendees prior to their arrival.

This might be one of the only national law enforcement conferences that takes place this year.

Visit the conference web page for more information and register now.

I look forward to seeing you in Dallas!
