The School Resource Officer Program is a collaborative effort by
certified law enforcement officers, educators, students, parents, and the
community to offer law related educational programs in the schools in an effort
to reduce crime, drug abuse, violence, and provide a safe school environment.
The National Association of School Resource
Officers is made up of over 9,000 law enforcement officers and
school personnel from every state in the nation. The focus thus far has been to
provide sound training for School Resource Officers, allowing them to better
perform their jobs. This has been accomplished in large scale each year at the
NASRO Annual conference held in various locations
across the country. During the National Conference, SRO's and School Administrators
are instructed in topics such as juvenile procedures, classroom techniques, crime
prevention topics, gangs, drug and alcohol use, and how to maintain a
successful School Based Program, just to name a few.
