Introduction to NASRO

The National Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) is a not-for-profit organization for school based law enforcement officers, school administrators, and school security/safety professionals working as partners to protect students, school faculty and staff and the schools they attend. The true and tested strength in the School Resource Officer program is that it is much more than a curriculum. The SRO Concept can easily be adapted to the needs of ANY community, desiring safe schools, and effective community partnerships.

With school based policing being the fastest growing area of law enforcement and our membership quickly approaching 9,000 members around the globe, NASRO takes great pride in being the first and most recognized organization for law enforcement officers assigned at our school communities. A wide array of services and programs are available to assist members in developing the most effective program, for their community.

NASRO is a member service organization. Students and communities around the globe receive the benefits of NASRO's wide-reaching network of law enforcement members and school administrators all striving to promote a safe and secure learning environment.

The National Association of School Resource Officers was founded with a solid commitment to the youth of the United States. Since 1990, our commitment remains solid to promote the TRIAD concept (Law Enforcement Officer - Teacher - Counselor) of school based law enforcement. Many communities have adopted this philosophy as they blend their SRO program, with the many other community policing programs.

By training law enforcement to educate, counsel and protect our school communities, the men and women of NASRO continue to lead by example and promote a positive image of law enforcement to our Nation's youth. NASRO has made itself available to communities and school districts around the nation in the development of effective school based law enforcement partnerships.

Consider becoming a part of our extended family, and allowing the National Association of School Resource officers to help you better serve your schools and community.
